The care of older people is a complex and skilled branch of health care. To be effective, carers need to be knowledgeable, flexible and positive in their interventions. This course's objectives are based on the idea that care of older people needs to be holistic. This means that in order to be effective a carer must consider the client from biological, psychological and sociological viewpoints.

It is essential to underpin this holistic assessment with an insight into the relationships between the client's individual needs and the attitudes and resources that currently exist in the UK. In each session you will find activities which help you to explore both the situation experienced by the older person and your own beliefs and value systems.

Job Interview Skills

Getting the job you want is not about following rules or giving the 'right' interview answer. It is about presenting yourself in the most authentic way that takes care of you and the interviewers at the same time. So many people throw their chances away: they do not take enough care and interview preparation time so that the whole process is enjoyable, stimulating and informative for both parties. This section aims to show you how.

The Effective Learner Course

This section will consider the importance of study skills and how we can identify and enhance our current skill set. We will then take a closer look at different learning styles and how knowledge of our own preferences in this area can make our learning more effective. Finally we will look at some basic time management techniques to enable you to plan and organise your studies and stay motivated.

Student Reviews for Caring for Older People Course

I first studied with Stonebridge Associated Colleges in 2009 to achieve a Diploma in "Care for The Elderly". Although I am a trained personal carer with 4 years experience, I also wanted the actual 'qualification' to enhance my current knowledge/skills. Also to add to my CV. As an ex Marketing Manager for a training company I obviously had high standards and I have to say that every expectation was met. The content and materials were very well presented and whenever I needed to contact a member of staff whether by email or telephone, I was dealt with in a friendly but professional manner. I passed the exam and achieved my Diploma in December 2009 and now have the qualification as well as the experience. I enjoyed the course so much I am now doing a second Diploma in "Dementia Awareness" and so far this is to exactly the same high standard. Many thanks to you all and continued success, Carole Clements-Cork SAC.Dip
