Creating Quality Social Work Environments (Byte Size) Course

A Distance Learning Course of 1 Lesson
Course Description

This Social Care - Skills Course has been structured so that students can choose exactly the area they need to develop by setting their own learning priorities.

These courses can be used by qualified social workers in practice as a source of professional updating, as well as by trainers, lecturers and practice teachers as a source of learning material. They can also be used by individuals who are eager to learn more about a particular area of Social Work.

In this course we look at ways of creating and sustaining quality environments for social work and social care. The term "environment" covers all aspects of the physical and social conditions in which we work.

It involves the physical aspects of safe living and working conditions as well as the social structures and processes. The political, economic and technological components of the environment affect the quality of the work we do. We will use examples from a range of environments including residential, day and community settings of social work and social care for adults and children.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Describe the components of quality social work and social care environments
  • Explain how to create and sustain a quality social work and social care environment
  • Explore the tensions within and between quality social work and social care environments.
