With this FCA approved CeMAP Certificate in Mortgage Advice (Module 1), you can progress to the next stage in the qualification process by completing the remaining CeMAP Modules (2 and 3). After which, you will be fully qualified. 

 

This CeMAP course is provided in partnership with e-Careers. The Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) is the benchmark qualification for Mortgage Advisers and earning your CeMAP qualifications is a great way to start a career in this industry.

 

Requirements for Entry

This course is angled towards people who want to begin the process of becoming a mortgage advice professional. For this reason, there are no entry requirements to enrol. 


*Please note the exam isn’t included in the cost of this course. Exams come at an additional fee of £190, and you can book in your exam at any point in the year once you complete your course materials. It is also worth noting that the cost of a re-sit exam is £160.

  • Explore the structure and purpose of the UK financial services industry and why financial regulation is such an important area to understand as a professional Mortgage Adviser
  • Understand the Data Protection Act 1998, the FCA regulation and its conduct of business rule so that when you work as a Mortgage Adviser, you can do so with confidence and a thorough understanding
  • Learn more about legal concepts, how they apply to the advice you will give and how legislation and regulation work together within the financial services
  • Show an understanding of UK taxation and social security systems
  • Learn how to deal with compensation claims and complaints should any issues arise within your future business
  • Understand how the volatility of interest rates can affect a mortgage customer, including how the fluctuation of interest rates can affect affordability and acceptance for mortgages
 
Once both units have been completed successfully, you will be ready to take your exam, which you will need to book and pay for separately. 
*Please note your CeMAP Module 1 exam is not included in this course. 
 
You can now sit your exam from home, which brings a whole new level of convenience to the process of becoming certified. During the online exam, you will need to maintain exam conditions. As such, your actions will be monitored by an invigilator throughout. All CeMAP modules and eligible for remote invigilation.
 
During the exam, you will cover the course materials you learned in Module 1, focusing on UK Financial Regulation (UKFR), including:
  • Unit 1 – Introduction to Financial Services, Environment and Products
  • Unit 2 – UK Financial Services and Regulation
 
This will be a 2 hour objective exam, with 100 multiple-choice questions.
 
*Please note, you will need to register with the London Institute of Banking and Finance to take your exam. It must be reiterated that the exam and the registration fee are not included in the cost of this course. You will need to pay an exam fee of £190 and the cost of a re-sit exam is £160.
