With the news that the more and more University Graduates are taking any job going at the moment it shows that there is a real fight for every job. In 2011 it was estimated that for every Graduate Job had up to 80 applicants. Considering that there were approximately 15,000 Graduate Jobs available last year it shows the bottleneck that is present in the jobs market.
With University Graduates applying for ‘lower-skilled’ jobs on the job market than what their degree was in this creates a worry that people without degrees will struggle to get past the CV stage for fewer jobs that are around at the moment.
Ideas, plans and schemes have been put in place, revised, re-launched every so often to aid more people to get jobs but, the fact that there are so many different schemes launched, shows that there is no perfect solution yet. Whether you are currently in further education or in in a job, one of the best ways to further your career prospects is learning new skills.
Studying in your own time to improve your own career or adding more skills to your bow will always be beneficial to yourself as it allows you to look further afield in the job market or help you get more responsibilities and more pay when it comes round to appraisal time in the office.
Also, we have a number of our students that are planning to go to University or are already in University and use our courses to advance their study in their chosen area of interest. We also have a number of students who are taking a break from University education to earn some money, travel etc. but don’t want to lose the focus in studying, writing essays and as such keep their minds sharp and learn new skills and techniques.
