Flexible working can fix your work-life balance

Written by Andy Martin
Flexible working. Cup of tea and a pen

When you’re a busy mum or dad, fitting in a job around your kids will always be difficult. If you want to have more time with your family, working as a Teaching Assistant can give you the flexible working hours you need.

Why work as a Teaching Assistant?

  • Be home in time to see your kids.
  • Spend time with your family over the school holidays.
  • Pick up the skills to support your own kids with homework.
  • Work at a local school, so you don’t have a long commute.

Working as a Teaching Assistant is one of the most rewarding jobs there is. Helping struggling students in a classroom and seeing children become more confident, is what makes it all worthwhile. Teaching can be stressful, with long hours marking and the responsibility of meeting targets. Teaching Assistants can enjoy all the great things about working in schools, without the parts of the job that wear you out.

Who can be a Teaching Assistant?

You don’t have to be just starting your career, to be a Teaching Assistant. Many people have a career change because they are fed up of working in an office, or because they have had children and are looking for more flexible working conditions.

Competition for Teaching Assistant roles can be high, so getting a qualification will help you get a job. Training will look fantastic on your CV and give you experience working in schools.

At Stonebridge we offer Teaching Assistant qualifications, that you can work towards in your own time. Distance learning is a great way to train for a new career, without the pressures, or travel costs, of studying at most colleges.
