Getting Started

Studying an A Level online allows you to enrol and start learning right away. You don’t have to squeeze a class into an already packed schedule. You’re able to learn whenever suits you best, at whatever pace suits you best.

As you’re completely in control of your studying you can set how quickly (or not) you go through the material. This means you’re able to enjoy the learning experience as it’s tailored towards your needs. The only specific deadline to work towards is your exam – exam sittings are held once per year in May or June.

Whenever you finish your assignments a dedicated tutor will be there to guide you. The tutor's support will help you develop your understanding of the subject. They’re also available to contact throughout your learning if you ever need extra assistance.

As you progress through your course, you will study the following modules:

  • An introduction to the role of the accountant in business
  • Types of business organisation
  • The double entry model
  • Verification of accounting records
  • Accounting concepts used in the preparation of accounting records
  • Preparation of financial statements of sole traders
  • Limited company accounts
  • Analysis and evaluation of financial information
  • Budgeting
  • Marginal costing
  • Standard costing and variance analysis
  • Absorption and activity-based costing
  • Capital investment appraisal
  • Accounting for organisations with incomplete records
  • Partnership accounts
  • Accounting for limited companies
  • Interpretation, analysis and communication of accounting information
  • The impact of ethical considerations

At the end of each unit there is an assignment to complete. Once this has been completed and submitted to your tutor he or she will respond with your grade as well as detailed feedback. Following successful completion of each unit you’ll be exam ready!

All instalment plans must be paid and up to date before an exam can be booked. In addition, exams cannot be booked for dates before the final payment is successfully made. For example, if two monthly payments are due in the future, an exam can be booked, but the exam date will be after the final payment is received.
