Regulated Courses

RQFs are nationally recognised government qualifications that carry considerable weight with employers nationwide. The ‘Regulated Qualifications Framework’ (RQF) was developed by Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation). Ofqual is a government department that sets the standard nationally for all qualifications, examinations and assessments. With this government stamp of approval on your course, an employer is assured of your professional status upon its completion. You can spot RQFs because they are arranged into levels. These range from 1-8 (with additional entry levels 1-3). The levels dictate how difficult each course is. Students can measure their success against other qualification types with the approximate guide below:

RQF Level Equivalent Qualification
1 GCSE (grades 3- 1 or D- G)
2 GCSE (grades 9- 4 or A*- C)
3 A-level/Access to HE Diploma
4 Certificate of Higher Education/Higher apprentice

The flexible and adaptable structure of RQFs means that these courses are tailored to prepare students for specific professions. An RQF Teaching Assistant Level 2 and Level 3, for example, would show employers that you meet the standards for teaching assistants working in a school. Advancement onto level 4 would further heighten your career prospects and knowledge of that profession. Stonebridge offers a diverse range of these recognised qualifications to suit your professional and educational needs. Some examples of RQF courses include foot health, teaching, early years, personal training, health, nutrition, web design and development, and counselling courses. Furthermore, studying an RQF might mean you can apply for a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan. Find out whether you are eligible for this government funding on your course of choice and fill out a simple online application form.
