This level 1 aware in mental health awareness will provide you with an introduction to the definition of mental health and mental ill-health, including common mental health issues and their causes.

You will learn about the effect of mental health issues on society and the rights of those experiencing challenges. The course also covers the perceptions of society and the portrayal of mental health in the media.

This course is ideal for anyone who wants to get to gain a foundational understanding mental health to carry them forward into further study, or simply just to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges individuals with mental health issues face.

This course provides you with a fundamental understanding of mental health, mental health issues and their effects.

It will help you to understand societies perception of mental health issues and how stereotyping can impact on individuals and the wider discussion.

  • Be aware of cultural diversity in relation to mental health issues

Assessment

After each lesson, there will be a question paper which needs to be completed and submitted to your assessor for marking.

This method of continual assessment ensures that your assessor can consistently monitor your progress and provide you with assistance throughout the course.

You should allow at least 1 - 2 hours of study to complete each question paper. The approximate amount of time required to complete the course is 30 hrs.
