About your Course

This animal licensing inspector level 3 award gives you the knowledge required to carry out the role safely and in accordance with animal welfare legislation.

The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 sets out the responsibilities of local authorities in England to license activities and establishments that involve animals.

Whether this is animal breeding or providing boarding services for cats and dogs. As a licensed inspector, you make sure that businesses and licensed individuals are operating in line with this legislation. And if you find they aren’t, take appropriate action.

During this course, you’ll cover the legislation and become familiar with the different roles and responsibilities it makes provision for. You will also learn how to assess animal welfare and know what steps or remedial action you need to take to ensure the welfare of the animal or animals.

Your one day placement will give you a chance to experience animal handling, behaviour observations and general husbandry, along with the benefit of discussions around animal welfare with the experienced staff.

Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter opens its doors to abandoned, unwanted and mistreated animals in need of urgent care. The small team of dedicated staff and volunteers work to give shelter, medical treatment and care, and, of course, to re-home cats, dogs and ex-battery hens.

Their enclosed site has beautiful views of the Malvern Hills with kennels to house up to twenty six dogs and 12 cattery pens.
