Learners can expect their certification within 6 months of completing the course, following the (EQA) External Quality Assurance of assessment.

On completion of this unit you will:

On completion of this unit you will: 

  • Know the origins of and links between evolution and canine behaviour 

  • Understand canine social behaviours 

  • Know canine breed traits 

  • Understand ethology 

Unit 3: How Canines Learn 

On completion of this unit you will: 

  • Understand canine learning theories 

  • Know canine dominance theory 

  • Understand force free canine behaviour modification 

  • Understand reinforcement and punishment in canine training 

Unit 4: Canine Behaviour 

On completion of this unit you will: 

  • Understand canine body language 

  • Understand aggression, fear and stress in canines 

  • Know the escalation of aggression in canines 

  • Understand canine behaviour issues 

Unit 5: Caring for Canines 

On completion of this unit you will: 

  • Know stages of whelping and puppy development 

  • Understand canine first aid 

  • Know basic canine grooming for welfare 

  • Understand positive stewardship 

Unit 6: Care of Canines in Settings 

On completion of this unit you will: 

  • Understand care of canines in different settings 

  • Understand diseases affecting canines in different settings 

  • Know the risks of working with canines 

  • Understand canine environmental enrichment 

Unit 7: Moving Canines Safely 

On completion of this unit you will: 

  • Understand safe canine handling practices 

  • Understand safe canine walking techniques 

  • Know how to restrain stray canines 

  • Know canine related legislation 

  • Understand stress when moving canines 

Each unit concludes with an online assessment. Once your tutor has confirmed that you have completed all your assessments, your work is internally verified and submitted to the Awarding Organisation for external assessment. They will release your qualification certificate to us once this external verification process is successfully completed.   

When are you assessed? 

As you’re in control of the way in which you learn, you’re also in charge of when you hand in your assignments. This enables you to take as long as you need to thoroughly understand the unit before completing any assignments.
