The Level 3 Certificate provides 5 units of in-depth theory and 15 days of practical dog grooming training. You will have the opportunity to work alongside dog grooming professionals in a working dog grooming salon environment. As part of the practical training, you will groom different dog breeds with different coat types.  

It will give you the opportunity to put what you’ve learned into practice. And provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a variety of different dog breeds with differing coat lengths.

This qualification has been developed by iPET Network, an awarding organisation recognised by Ofqual. The course content has been carefully curated by the highest Dog Grooming and Animal Welfare educational standards. Students will feel confident and capable in the theory and skills necessary to work within the Dog Grooming industry.

Please note that as a COVID precaution, it is mandatory for learners to have their own grooming equipment when attending the practical training. A comprehensive dog grooming kit is available to purchase from our practical training provider for the amount of £450. Alternatively, learners can provide their own equipment. The qualification includes 15 days of practical training where you will receive hands-on experience and the opportunity to apply your learning. This practical training will be at a state of the art dog grooming centre in Winsford, UK.

The approximate time required to complete the course is 238 hours, including the practical training at a dog grooming school.

During your 15-days of practical, you will work alongside trained and highly experienced dog grooming professionals.

This unique learning experience will allow you to work on your dog grooming and health and safety procedures. You will also be able to practice the grooming and styling techniques on several clients (dogs) with a range of coats styles and lengths.

Throughout your training, you will be monitored, supported, and assessed by experienced dog grooming tutors.

At the end of your practical training, you will be equipped with the confidence and the experience to apply for roles in the dog grooming sector.

On completion of this unit you will:

  • Learn about the relevant canine legislation and regulations

Unit 3: Assess and Plan Dog Grooming Styles and Maintenance of Equipment

  • Explore how poor health can affect the grooming process
  • Identify possible breed defects that could affect grooming
  • Learn how certain adjustments can be made to improve the grooming experience for a dog

Unit 5: Prepare, Style and Finish a range of Dog Breeds

On completion of this unit you will:

  • Learn how to effectively groom a variety of dog breeds, from preparation to styling and finishing
  • Learn how to use equipment appropriate to the coat type to remove knots and excess hair
  • Study handling techniques to suit the dog type
  • Learn how to safely bathe and dry a range of dogs
  • Explore the preparation for styling and finishing techniques for different breeds and client requirements
  • Learn how to groom at least 20 dogs covering the 6 coat types

 

Study and practical training

The course is available online to start at any time. The practical elements will take place over 15 days. During the practical training at one of our hand-picked training providers, you will have the opportunity to groom a minimum of 20 dogs, ranging across 10 different breeds with different coat types.

There are no pre-requisites for this diploma, however, you must be over 16 years of age to enrol.

The approximate time required to complete the course is 238 hours, including practical training at a dog grooming school in the UK.

When studying your iPET Network Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming and Introduction to Styling you’ll be assessed internally by our qualified experts. You’ll need to provide a portfolio of evidence upon completion of each unit. 

Once you have successfully completed all your assessments and practical training, you will receive your final grade and receive your certificate of completion alongside your qualification.
