You don’t need any prior qualifications or experience to enrol on this course. To get started, you simply need access to a computer or tablet and an internet connection.

Once you finish each module you will need to complete a Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) to evidence your understanding. This is completed online, then submitted to your tutor for marking. Your tutor will then assess the assignment and return it to you with its final grade and feedback.
On successful completion of all assignments included in the course, you will be ready to take your exam! In order to achieve this qualification, you must complete all exams in a single year.
About the GCSE English Language exams
There are two exams in GCSE English Language, you must complete both exams in the same exam series.
Paper 1: Fiction and Imaginative Writing. Paper 1 is assessed through a 1 hour and 45-minute examination. The total number of marks available is 64, and it is worth 40% of the total GCSE.
Paper 2: Non-fiction and Transactional Writing. Paper 2 is assessed through a 2 hour and 5-minute examination. The total number of marks available is 96, and it is worth 60% of the total GCSE.
About the iGCSE English Language exam
There is one exam in iGCSE English Language. The content is assessed through a 3 hour examination, in three sections. The total number of marks available is 100, and it is worth 100% of the total iGCSE.
Grades
You will be graded between grades 1 and 9, 9 being the highest.
