Studying your GCSE

Physics studies of everything within our universe, from the smallest particles to the vastness of space. The main goal is to understand the relationships between matter and motion through space and time.

Studying Physics – alone or alongside other core sciences – will help you make sense of the universe we inhabit. Studying Physics at Level 2 will allow you to go on to study the subject at A Level and beyond.

The modules you’ll cover explore waves, the particle model of matter, atomic structure, forces and how they’re all linked. You will also get the opportunity to touch on the foundations of astrophysics and space travel.

Included in this course bundle are the exams needed to get you your qualification.

The exams are designed to assess your knowledge gained throughout the course. It will consist of multiple-choice, short answer questions and open answer questions. You’ll need to demonstrate your comprehensive understanding of scientific theory as well as its practical application.

By the time you have completed your course, you will have a comprehensive understanding of Physics including key theories and principles. This will enable you to develop your knowledge further through the study of an A Level or an Access to HE Diploma.

Getting Started

Studying your course with Stonebridge Associated Colleges isn’t like traditional courses. As a leading distance learning institute, all your work is online which means no classes.

This gives you the freedom to do the work when it suits you, rather than to strict timetables.

You can fit your studies around your existing commitments and home life. The only specific deadline to work towards is your exam – exam sittings are held once per year in May or June for GCSEs, and twice a year in summer and autumn for iGCSEs.

Once you are enrolled on the course you can start learning the same day. All the course material will be made instantly available to you via our online portal. So not only can you decide when to study, but how quickly you cover the course material.

You will have a dedicated tutor to support you throughout your Physics course. They will be available to provide guidance and answer questions. They will also provide detailed feedback on all your assignments so you can make continual improvements.

*You will have access to the course for 12 months only. You can purchase course extensions.

As you progress through your course, you will study the following modules:

  • Introduction to Physics
  • Energy
  • Electricity
  • Particle model of matter
  • Atomic structure
  • Forces
  • Waves
  • Magnetism and electromagnetism
  • Space physics

At the end of each unit there is an assignment to complete. Once this has been completed and submitted to your tutor he or she will respond with your grade as well as detailed feedback. Following successful completion of each unit you’ll be exam ready!

All instalment plans must be paid and up to date before an exam can be booked. In addition, exams cannot be booked for dates before the final payment is successfully made. For example, if two monthly payments are due in the future, an exam can be booked, but the exam date will be after the final payment is received.

Please note: GCSE physics includes 10 practical assessments that you will need to organise yourself.
