About your Course

A career in life skills coaching will allow you to spend your days helping your clients in a number of different areas of their life.

You will learn a range of therapeutic models as part of a complete life skills coaching programme so you can support your clients effectively. This includes: basic counselling, psychoanalysis, CBT, coaching, advanced coaching, basic NLP and self-hypnosis.

This course will give you a comprehensive understanding of how to assess your client’s needs and build a support plan around them and their identified goals.

It is designed as a complete professional training package, including how to develop a support network and set up your own life skills coaching practice.

Extensive use of case studies is combined with examination of specific application topics (such as stress, anger, smoking and emotional issues) so you will gain knowledge of how to apply skills to a range of typical client presentations and issues. The course is designed to enable you to adhere to the existing National Occupational Standards for Counselling.

This life coach certification also brings practical benefits to those looking to become a life coach. Aside from learning how to help others, you’ll learn how to reflect on areas of your own life.

This will give you the opportunity to develop a self-development plan be it emotional, professional or health related. This, in turn, will help you to be a better life coach as you are proof that the process works.

Getting Started

You do not need any prior experience to enrol on to this advanced life skills coaching distance learning course. All that is required is your motivation to successfully complete this qualification and a means to access the study materials.

The advanced life skills coaching course will provide you with highly developed skills in listening and questioning. You will gain the ability to inspire and motivate along with the right tools to enable the success of your clients.

There are other complementary courses available once you have completed this life coaching course. These will help you develop in specific areas such as business coaching, performance management, career counselling, and holistic therapies for mind and body therapy advice.

Other than working in a consultant type of role, you could be either in the public or private sector, and you could sell your services as a package. Life coaches can work as self-employed either from home or at the client’s house.

The Learner Unit Summary may be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this subject. To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at Level 4 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner.

The course itself has been designed Stonebridge Associated Colleges to meet specific learners’ and/or employers’ requirements which cannot be satisfied through current regulated qualifications. The Quality Licence Scheme endorsement involves robust and rigorous quality audits by external auditors to ensure quality is continually met. A review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.

The Quality Licence Scheme is part of the Skills and Education Group, a charitable organisation that unites education and skills-orientated organisations that share similar values and objectives. With more than 100 years of collective experience, the Skills and Education Group’s strategic partnerships create opportunities to inform, influence and represent the wider education and skills sector.

We are committed to helping employers, organisations and learners cultivate the relevant skills for learning, skills for employment, and skills for life.

Our knowledge and experience of working within the awarding sector enables us to work with training providers, through the Quality Licence Scheme, to help them develop high-quality courses and/or training programmes for the non-regulated market.
