Course Description

About the Sage 50 Accounts – Stage 3 Certificate

This course has been designed to help you understand the process for your month end and your year end in Sage Accounts. It will teach you everything you need to know about period end tasks, returns and reconciliations and will equip you with the skills to manage your business cash flow effectively.

Who should study this course?

This Sage training course is for both new and existing users of Sage Accounts who want to learn about the advanced features available in the software. It is also suitable for students who have previously completed Sage 50 Account Stage 1 and Stage 2 that wish to take their learning further.

What happens after this course?

Upon successful completion of this course, you will possess the knowledge to perform a multitude of everyday and more advanced accounts tasks using Sage Accounts. You will be one step further towards becoming a highly-skilled Accounts user.

Sage 50 Accounts – Stage 3 also prepares you to take your study further with our Sage 50 Accounts – Stage 4 course, for example, so that you can become an Accounts expert.

  • Credit control reporting: customer defaults, ageing periods, chase debt, aged reports (retrospective and other credit control reports), aged creditors analysis, customer invoices and supplier reports 
  • Credit control documentation and communication: customer statements and letters, email statements and communications history 
  • Credit control management: disputed transactions and reporting them, account status, VAT recovery on bad dept and bad dept write-off 
  • Cash flow forecast: including transactions, manual entries and viewing forecasts
  • Financial reporting: audit trail, trial balance, chart of accounts, profit and loss (including comparative), balance sheets, batch reports, period figures and ratio reports 
  • Departments and budgets: department activity and reports, standard and advanced budgeting and budget reports
  • Microsoft Excel integration: Excel integrated reporting and additional Sage options
  • Bank reconciliation: reconciling the bank (sorting and matching transactions, plus adding adjustments), bank reports and bank feeds 
  • Fixed assets: fixed asset categories and register, asset reporting and disposal and post depreciation 
  • Prepayments and accruals: setting up and posting prepayments and accruals, reversing journals and the nominal ledger effect 
  • VAT return (UK): producing and checking VAT returns, scale charges, VAT verification and transfer, nominal accounts and EC Sales list 
  • VAT return (Ireland): same as above 
  • Year end: future transactions, posting late transactions, clearing the audit trail, archiving data and deleting unwanted records
