About your Course

Open learning is an innovative approach to learning developed in the 1970s designed to enhance learning opportunities in and out of formal education.

It involves in-class teaching methods, interactive learning and work-related education and training.

The focus is on the needs of the learner as perceived by them, rather than an external agency making that decision for them.

This course will develop the skills needed to effectively support an individual taking part in open learning.

Once you have completed this online course, you will have the skills required to help children in an open learning setting. This will include the technologies that will be of most use and how to maintain learner progress.

Getting Started

This online course will allow you to support open learners in a constructive and effective manner.

You could work in a school setting, remotely for children who are home schooling or individuals in work, on a training course.

Open learning support is uncommon and highly valued in a number of settings, opening up a number of potential career opportunities.

Upon completing the course, you can also go on to further study to qualify as a teaching assistant or learning support assistant.
