About your Diploma

This course combines the Level 3 Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy and the Level 6 Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy with Hydrotherapy. This course provides the knowledge and practical training required to treat animals both in the water and on land as a qualified Animal Hydrotherapist and Veterinary Physiotherapist.
 
This course contains two qualifications, split into three parts. 
  • Part 1 includes Small Animal Hydrotherapy.
  • Part 2 includes Veterinary Physiotherapy with Hydrotherapy. (Not included in this payment)
  • Part 3 includes Veterinary Physiotherapy which is the final stage. (Not included in this payment)
 
You must complete all parts (Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3) to obtain a certificate and become qualified in Small Animal Hydrotherapy and Veterinary Physiotherapy.

Qualification: Level 3 Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy + Level 6 Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy with Hydrotherapy - Part 1

This course is for learners aged 18+ who must have a Level 3 Diploma in Hydrotherapy (including treadmill unit – with either ABC/SEG, Open College Network West Midlands or OCN London).

Students must complete all three parts (part 1, 2 &3) and 800 hours of clinical practice, and 25 days of practical training to receive their certificate and qualification.

Requirements for Entry

The minimum age to access this qualification is 18. Students must access veterinary physiotherapy clinics to complete 800 hours of clinical practice, along with 25 days of practical physiotherapy training and 6 days of Hydrotherapy training. A variety of practical dates are available.
 
Students must have good physical health and mobility and be able to do the following during their 6 days of Hydrotherapy training and practical placement: 
  • Handling a variety of animals of all shapes and sizes, whilst kneeling.
  • Accommodate your position to suit the body language and behaviour of the animal.
  • Provide strength, stability, and balance.
  • Comfortable with the confinement of an aquatic treadmill.
  • Able to move around an above-ground pool
  • Walkthrough a 1metre water level under the resistance and hydrostatic pressure of a heated hydrotherapy pool.
  • Suitable fitness to perform 40 hours of practical training.
  • Professional Membership
 
Students who have completed this qualification can apply for a membership at the Canine Hydrotherapy Association (CHA) and the International Association of Animal Therapists (IAAT). Following completion of this qualification, learners can join membership organisations such as the Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners (RAMP) as a Veterinary Physiotherapist. Assessment

Students will be assessed by a portfolio of evidence and a several practical assessments. Students will need to show sufficient evidence that they have the required knowledge, skills and understanding of the assessment criteria.

Once you have successfully completed your portfolio of evidence and the practical assessment across all parts (1,2 & 3) you will receive your certificate of completion alongside your qualification
