You will study key elements such as atomic structure and bonding, the Periodic Table, alkanes, acids and alcohols, amongst others.

You’ll explore physical chemistry and inorganic chemistry throughout your studies and build a comprehensive understanding of both.

The modules are designed to teach you about the core concepts in chemistry by following the AQA specification.

You’ll have 3 exams to complete your qualification. The exam structure will include:

  • Multiple-choice questions
  • Short and long answer questions
  • Practical techniques and data analysis

Your exams will be at an exam centre near to you. We will aim to find you a place within 50 miles of your postcode, subject to centre capacity and exam availability.

The exams are designed to put your knowledge to the test. You’ll need to demonstrate a solid understanding of scientific ideas, process, techniques and procedures. As well as analyse and evaluate scientific theory and data.

Getting Started

This qualification has been designed in line with AQA specification. The chemistry knowledge you’ll have once the course has been completed can lead to many exciting opportunities with further study.

You’ll be able to carry on your training in a science-related field at university and become a forensic scientist, chemical engineer, geochemist and more.
