What happens after the course?

Please note, this is a knowledge-based course, so it will not qualify you as a Nail Technician. It is intended as the ideal introduction to this area of nail care, so you can make an educated decision as to whether this career path is the right one for you.

To work as a Nail Technician, you will need to complete a qualification that includes practical training to hone your skills and have your assessments signed off by an expert in this field. This enables you to secure the insurance you need to work professionally.

Once you have completed your nail tech course, you could continue your studies and progress to a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Nail Services, or specialise in paint design or applying nail art and jewellery. .

Qualification: Nail Technician Professional - Complete

On successful completion of your course, you will receive a Stonebridge Associated Colleges Certificate of Completion.

Your course certificate will also state the number of CPD points/hours the course is eligible for.

No experience or previous qualifications are required for enrolment on this course.

Unit 3: Anatomy & Physiology

By the end of this unit the learner will be able to:

Understand and identify the underlying anatomy and physiology of the hand and lower arm
Understand the structure of the skin
Identify the structure of the skin and nail
Understand the process of keratinization and the process of nail growth

Unit 4: Nail disorders and shapes    

By the end of this unit the learner will be able to:

Understand what is meant by the term contra indication
Identify what is an untreatable nail or skin disorder
Identify what is a treatable nail disorder
Identify natural nail shapes
Identifying factors affecting growth

Unit 5: Manicure

By the end of this unit the learner will be able to:   

To understand the reason for manicure
How to perform a consultation
Set up a work station
Identify what equipment and tools are required
Demonstrate the correct use of tools
Perform a manicure

Unit 6: Starting on Tips  

By the end of this unit the learner will be able to:

To be able to identify the correct tools, equipment and products required

Unit 7: Application of Liquid and Powder

By the end of this unit the learner will be able to:

Finish the product to create a smooth, glossy surface

Unit 10: Gel Infill’s and maintenance

By the end of this unit the learner will be able to:

Unit 11: Troubleshooting

By the end of this unit the learner will be able to:

At the end of this course successful learners will be given the option to receive a Certificate of Achievement from the Quality Licence Scheme and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).
